About this grant
Established in 1989, the Community Law and Rural Development Centre, has a network of advice offices that provide free legal advice and other services to poor communities in rural areas of KwaZulu-Natal and Eastern Cape provinces of South Africa. Past support assisted the grantee to train and mentor paralegals within advice offices and to seek ways for these advice offices to remain sustainable. This grant will support the grantee to continue to train paralegals and advice office management committees on topics including fundraising, financial management, and governance. It will also assist advice offices to register as independent institutions to improve their chances of raising funds from a variety of sources and will provide ongoing legal education to paralegals to ensure that they are current with changes in relevant laws.
