About this grant
This grant will support Avenues to Success, a project of the Genesee Area Focus Fund, in efforts to connect K-12 students and teachers with resources that integrate employment preparation into the classroom curriculum. The project was developed in collaboration with other partners of the Genesee-Shiawassee Career Prep System to introduce students to the workplace.Funding will support activities that provide professional development for classroom teachers; age-appropriate workshops and community-based learning activities that meet the Michigan Department of Education’s Career and Employability Skills Content Standards and Benchmarks; and college and career exploration opportunities.During the past year, the project launched a program – Beyond High School – that helps approximately 17,000 teachers, students and their parents to use the Genesee Intermediate School District’s educational development plan when selecting their high-school curriculum.
