About this grant

The Genesee Area Focus Fund, in partnership with Genesee County business leaders and educational system, created the Life Skills Preparation through Educational Partnership program in 1996. The program offers 10 instructional packages or educational “tools” that participating schools can use to create a customized program of career preparation activities that meshes with their regular curricula. Currently, the program serves 46 schools in 13 school districts, including 14 elementary and two middle schools in Flint.Funding will maintain educational partnerships as the Focus Council engages in strategic planning that will include an examination of educational programming.The Genesee Area Focus Fund, created in 1988, is the programmatic arm of a consortium of nonprofit, education and business leaders that focuses on economic development issues that affect the competitive economy and quality of life in Genesee County.
