About this grant
Today, the field of workforce development is facing challenges and opportunities to expand the impact of sectoral approaches. Challenges include methodological difficulties in fully evaluating sector initiatives, such as the ability of sector programs to achieve change and provide tangible benefits to employers. As the field enters its next phase of development, strong leaders will be required to take advantage of the challenges and opportunities.Funding will support the design of a Sector Employment Leadership Institute to develop leaders who will promote greater programmatic capacity and innovation and an improved ability for the field to communicate its value to policymakers, business leaders and the public. The project will involve three phases: a sector research conference, a "Future of the Field" meeting, and a planning phase to help develop the institute. The Aspen Institute works to develop practical leadership in today’s world through nonpartisan seminars and policy programs for leaders in business, government, the media, education, the arts and the independent sector from democratic societies worldwide.
