About this grant

Common Purpose South Africa brings leaders and opinionmakers together from the private, public and nonprofit sectors to network, exchange experiences and deliberate on the major challenges facing South Africa in its transition to a nonracial democracy. This provides leaders from the public and private sectors with an opportunity to gain a better appreciation of the role that the nonprofit sector plays and the valuable contribution that it makes to the development of the country. This grant will enable nonprofit leaders to participate in various Common Purpose South Africa programs and activities and provide funding for Common Purpose South Africa to look at expanding the program.Accomplishments during the past two years included building bridges across racial, ethnic and other divides; enhancing the ability of leaders to tackle the challenges facing them in their own field and the wider community; maximizing the use of resources through partnerships and by identifying common problems where resources can be shared; and engaging the next generation of leaders.
