About this grant
Common Purpose South Africa was established in South Africa in 2001 to provide leaders and decisionmakers from all sectors with information, understanding, know-how and networks to enable them to take on a more effective and collaborative role in shaping the areas in which they live and work. The Training for Leaders of Nonprofit Organizations project will support efforts to engage leaders from the nonprofit sector in the future of their cities and communities, and help them work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.Multiyear funding will enable leaders and decisionmakers from the nonprofit sector to participate in two educational programs, Matrix and Navigator. Matrix specifically targets senior leaders, bringing them together for 11 days during the year to find solutions to common problems. Navigator is aimed at emerging, young leaders who are brought together in residential courses twice a year. During two, five-day sessions, participants are helped to see how organizations, cities and communities function, and provided with the opportunity to address some of the key issues facing society.
