About this grant
Although South Africa has made marked progress during the past decade as a democracy, poverty remains a serious challenge. The nonprofit sector is vital to continuing development and further reducing poverty. However, the nonprofit sector needs organization, effective leadership and access to resources. After conducting research to identify the strengths and needs of the nonprofit sector, Olive plans to use the findings to develop programs and interventions to enhance the sector.Multiyear funding will enable Olive to focus on strengthening community-based organizations that work with poor and marginalized communities. Activities will include providing training, capacity building and institutional support to community-based organizations; developing and conducting leadership training and development courses for leaders of nonprofit organizations in KwaZulu-Natal; and publishing various publications, such as a quarterly journal.Olive: Organisation Development and Training was established in 1993 to provide organizational development and training for the nonprofit sector.
