About this grant
Through this grant, the Support Center for Nonprofit Management — in partnership with five other organizations — will provide African-American, Latino and Asian-American donors with new tools and information to increase the impact of their individual and collective philanthropy in the New York area. The Coalition for New Philanthropy was established in 2001.Funding will enable the center to pursue the second phase of the project, based on findings from the first phase, including promoting successful practices, strategies, tools and curricula; and developing an organizational model targeting ethnic funds. Los Angeles, Oakland, Chicago and St. Paul have been chosen as possible pilot sites because of their ethnic funds and nonprofits targeting diverse ethnic, racial and cultural communities.During the first phase, the coalition conducted a donor research project; created curricular materials and marketing techniques; and disseminated successful donor outreach/education tools and strategies to build the capacity of others in the field in reaching and engaging donors of color effectively.
