About this grant
The Coalition for New Philanthropy is a collaborative project that provides African-American, Latino and Asian-American donors with tools and information to increase the impact of their individual and collective philanthropy. In addition to the Support Center for Nonprofit Management, five organizations are partnering in this effort. This grant will enable the coalition to conduct a variety of outreach activities and educational programs, including trainings and technical assistance, launching new donor circles and fields of interest funds, completing research on employee networks, and sharing best practices and lessons learned. Training sessions and workshops will be expanded to include ethnic funds and other donor vehicles in San Francisco, Oakland and Chicago.During the past year, the coalition convened 15 events for donors and potential donors in which the needs of various ethnic communities were discussed; held two meetings for professional advisors to the donor community; provided educational outreach and technical assistance to donor circles and funds; and developed and disseminated information and reports through regional and national conferences. Through these activities, the coalition reached nearly 2,000 donors and 11 professional advisors in 2005.
