About this grant
This grant will enable the Thomas Jefferson Institute for the Study of World Politics to encourage philanthropy, particularly within the business sector, as a way to promote change and build the image of non-governmental organizations. The goal of the project is to encourage the nonprofit sector to work with business and government to revitalize local civic engagement and participation in the region.Multiyear funding will support the development of "Places in the Heart – Serbia," a program that recognizes and rewards best practices in the nonprofit field in Serbia and Montenegro. Selected projects that demonstrate how nonprofits and businesses can cooperate to leverage local resources and address community concerns will be recognized at an annual conference.The Jefferson Institute, established in 2003, is a trans-Atlantic research and education institution. It provides decisionmakers with alternative solutions based on policy analysis and recommendations.
