About this grant

This grant will provide continued support to the National League of Cities Institute to engage city leaders in afterschool initiatives. The City Leaders Engaged in Afterschool Reform and A New Day for Learning initiative will: 1) provide technical assistance to cities with the development of citywide afterschool systems; 2) host state or regional summits to expand and deepen partnerships between municipal leaders and statewide afterschool networks; 3) convene a third National City Afterschool Summit with a possible focus on how city/business partnerships are critical for addressing afterschool needs; 4) collect and disseminate promising practices that raise the visibility of older youth’s afterschool needs and programs; 5) document municipal afterschool investment in selected cities; and 6) continue to raise awareness about city roles in expanding afterschool opportunities.
