About this grant
This grant will enable the Afterschool Alliance to build and strengthen afterschool funding sources and opportunities. As the demand for afterschool programs continues to grow, there is a critical need for funding to provide high-quality programs for all students.Funding will support activities that include expanding and redesigning the funding area of the alliance Web site; creating a regular column in the Afterschool Advocate newsletter dedicated to funding issues; exploring the option of developing dedicated afterschool funding streams at the state level; providing opportunities and tools for youth to participate in efforts to expand funding for afterschool programs; and continuing to connect afterschool programs to Supplemental Education Services funding. The Afterschool Alliance, established in late 1999, is a coalition of public, private and nonprofit organizations dedicated to raising the awareness and public support for quality, affordable afterschool programs for all by 2010.
