Just Consulting Initiative

About this grant

Just Consulting, a project of the Movement Strategy Center, is a network of consultants who support social justice organizations. To provide a basis for building healthy, sustainable organizations within the movement for racial, economic and environmental justice, Just Consulting recently developed guidelines on how best to serve these groups and plans to field test and document the tools and curriculum.Funding will enable the project to identify four organizations working in the youth organizing, environmental justice and juvenile justice fields to test the central model. The organizations selected must be dedicated to organizing around racial justice issues; have a need for strategic planning and organizational development support; and be willing to commit a level of financial resources to the effort. In addition, Just Consulting will assist 10 or more groups to use the model to assess and identify next steps in their internal planning.The center, founded in 2001, is a national movement-building intermediary that engages youth and adults across issues and regions. It was created to coordinate information about resources and needs; address the lack of broader networks and a vehicle for sharing ideas and best practices; provide training for bridge-building leadership; and assist groups in developing regional strategies that support organizational goals.
