About this grant
The Western States Center’s Dismantling Racism project was developed in 1998 to strengthen the capacity of organizations doing racial justice work in the West by helping them build a shared language and analysis of race and racism, engage in anti-racist organizational development, and encourage racial justice organizing.Funding will enable the center to evaluate the success of dismantling racism efforts in increasing the volume and effectiveness of racial equity efforts; document and disseminate the evaluation to anti-racist practitioners across the United States; expand the field of practitioners beyond the West; assess the challenges facing people of color-led racial equity nonprofit organizations; develop a strategic planning process to build the field of racial equity work in the West; and continue to analyze trends and racial dynamics both regionally and in relation to national trends. The center, established in 1987, supports research, education and action on race-related issues at the community level in the Northwest.
