About this grant

This grant continues support for the Urban Institute’s study of administrative expenses and compensation practices of the nation’s top 10,000 foundations, done jointly with the Foundation Center and GuideStar. In an era of media and legislative allegations of misconduct by foundations, research will help form a clear picture of actual practice as reported on tax returns, and it will provide benchmarks on expenses by foundation size and type. Funds will be used to add additional data from foundation tax returns, for analysis and report writing, for project meetings, and to disseminate findings.
