About this grant
The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Growth launched the Michigan Regional Skills Alliances (MiRSA) to bring together key local entities to address workforce issues affecting firms operating in the same industry in a distinct geographic area. MiRSA’s goal is to provide Michigan employers with a highly skilled workforce and Michigan citizens with good-paying jobs and opportunities for career advancement. To assess MiRSA’s effectiveness, an evaluation will be conducted by the W.E. Upjohn Unemployment Trustee Corporation.Multiyear funding will enable Upjohn to document the efforts of 12 participant cities in identifying an appropriate industry; articulating the needs of the firm in that industry; and demonstrating that the targeted industry has a human resource need that can be addressed through the program. The second component of the evaluation is to assess the alignment of goals and objectives with MiRSA’s work plan and the viability of the convening organization and its partners in executing the work plan.W.E. Upjohn Unemployment Trustee Corporation, established in 1945, is an independent nonprofit research organization devoted to finding, evaluating and promoting solutions to employment-related problems.
