About this grant
In 2004, Mott began requiring re-granting grantees to check the names of sub-grantees against various terrorist watch lists in compliance with the USA PATRIOT Act. Currently, Mott makes grants to nearly 75 organizations that subsequently re-grant a portion of Mott funds to other organizations located in the United States, Europe, Russia, South Africa and South America. CompuMentor recently completed a gap analysis to determine the capability of these grantees to use technology to comply with the act. There is a vital need to provide technical support and training to these grantees.Multiyear funding will enable CompuMentor, in partnership with NPower, to perform site visits; conduct training sessions; and provide additional support through a project-specific Web site, LISTSERV, instant messaging and conference calls. Participants outside the United States also will receive resources to address cultural, linguistic and technical barriers that may restrict their ability to use the recommended list-checking software.CompuMentor, one of the nation’s leading nonprofit technology assistance organizations, has been providing person-to-person services, low-cost software and online resources to more than 23,000 nonprofits and schools since 1987.
