About this grant
This grant will enable the Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society at the City University of New York to examine the value of a think tank on philanthropy that would explore short- and long-term issues facing foundations, ranging from the current legislative and regulatory environment to the changing demographics of the United States.Funding will support a feasibility study to outline a research agenda and identify potential participants; explore the think tank’s relationship to the larger foundation community; develop a strategy for collaborating with major membership organizations and other centers nationwide; and determine various dissemination techniques to engage policymakers, journalists and the general public. The City University of New York Graduate Center includes 32 doctoral programs and offers seven master’s degree programs. Its Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society aims to strengthen civil society through education, research and leadership training.
