About this grant

Through this grant, NetCorps will help 10 environmental nonprofit organizations in the southeastern United States use information technology to build capacity, improve efficiency and increase effectiveness. Despite recent advances in communication and information technology, many nonprofits lack the knowledge needed to acquire and manage appropriate technology. Especially in rural or traditionally underserved areas such as the Southeast, the distribution of technology tends to be disproportionately weak.Funding will enable NetCorps to work intensively with each group to develop individualized strategic technology plans; assist each group in implementing key technology priorities identified through an assessment; and identify and cultivate local, community-based nonprofit technology-support systems.NetCorps, founded in 1996, works to increase the capacity of organizations to carry out their missions through the application of appropriate communication and information technology, training, and assistance.
