About this grant
The program goal is to provide small grants and technical assistance to grassroots groups in Ukraine aimed at strengthening civil society and improving the quality of life in Ukrainian communities. Having expanded from an initial focus on the environment, Ednannia supports local community initiatives addressing a wide range of issues, including health, social care, youth, education, agriculture, economic opportunity, and others. In 2009-2011, Ednannia will continue providing small grants and capacity-building training and assistance to grassroots groups. It will also build its own capacity to raise funds from domestic sources, as well as to stimulate local philanthropy through local funding matching requirements of its grantees. In the most recent grant period, Ednannia awarded almost $400,000 to a wide range of grassroots initiatives in the areas of human rights promotion and protection. Established as an indigenous grantmaker in 1999, Ednannia is known for its rigorous, transparent, responsive, and effective grantmaking.
