About this grant
This grant will continue to support the Minnesota Department of Education in the advancement of the Minnesota Statewide Afterschool Network. This grantee is part of the third cohort of Mott-funded, statewide afterschool networks. In addition to continuing its core work building the field of afterschool, the Minnesota Statewide Afterschool Network will coordinate and support policy and systems building efforts at the local level across the state by concentrating its policy efforts on strengthening the capacity of local partners — cities, schools, tribal nations, and regional collaborations — to ensure that children and youth have access to high quality afterschool learning opportunities. This will be accomplished through the following strategies: increasing recognition of high quality afterschool through publicized awards and recognition events highlighting innovation and best practices; instituting learning academies to bring together partners and champions; and creating and implementing a social media campaign to build statewide support for afterschool. Lessons learned and products will be shared with the national network of statewide afterschool networks.
