About this grant

This grant will enable the German Marshall Fund of the United States to engage existing and emerging Turkish political and civic leaders in discussions about Turkey’s role in Europe and the trans-Atlantic region. The development of democracy in Turkey and its relations with the European Union, the United States and Middle Eastern countries are currently seen as key issues in regional and global security and stability.Funding will support the development and organization of a series of interactive lectures and seminars with prominent speakers from Europe, the United States, Turkey and the surrounding region. Sessions will address issues of democracy, the role of the nonprofit sector and philanthropy, Islam in the West, and stability in the Middle East.The German Marshall Fund of the United States was established in 1972 to deepen understanding, promote collaborations, and stimulate exchanges between Americans and Europeans.
