About this grant

"Poverty USA" is an award-winning public service multimedia campaign developed to make Americans aware of the nature and scope of poverty in the United States. The fifth national multimedia public service advertising campaign is scheduled for 2005.Funding will support efforts to conduct and analyze market research to test understanding of the current state of poverty; and conduct follow-up research to measure changes in the public attitude toward poor people. Goals include publishing research to provide an analysis of poverty trends and its causes and consequences; disseminate research to measure public awareness and attitudes about poverty; reaching out to national, regional and local media to expose them to the findings; and providing resources and data to elected officials and local decisionmakers. The Catholic Campaign for Human Development works to address the root causes of poverty in the United States by promoting and supporting community-controlled, self-help organizations and through transformative education.
