About this grant
This grant will support a joint project between the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Belarusian Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare to establish a network of community centers that will generate employment in Belarusian cities. The Belarusian government has recently approved a comprehensive social protection program in response to the problems of poorly diversified economies and tense labor markets in many cities. Through the multiservice community centers, the project will integrate the protection of social and economic rights into initiatives to promote community economic development.Multiyear funding will support the creation of social information centers within the multiservice community centers. The centers will provide no-cost access to advice on matters of employment, social assistance, education opportunities, consumer rights protection, and other issues concerning social and economic rights of citizens. UNDP, the global development network for the United Nations, advocates for change and links countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people improve their quality of life.
