About this grant
This grant will enable the Women’s Funding Network to enhance the work of women’s funds within U.S. community foundations. Women’s funds play a vital role in creating healthy and productive communities; encouraging change with civil society; and supporting programs to meet changing community needs. After examining the needs and various models of women’s funds in community foundations, the network has developed a program to nurture and strengthen these funds.Funding will support activities that include adapting an assessment program called, "Smart Growth," to address the specific needs of women’s funds in community foundations; providing technical assistance, consulting and shared communication vehicles to promote discussion among staff of women’s funds in community foundations; developing and disseminating a guide/manual on how to start women’s funds; and convening a workshop at the network’s annual conference to discuss lessons learned. The Women’s Funding Network, founded in 1985, works to encourage the growth and development of women’s funds.
