About this grant
This grant will support the expansion of the Independence Care System (ICS) into Brooklyn, thereby increasing career opportunities for home health-care workers and contributing to organizational sustainability. ICS operates a Medicaid-managed, long-term care plan that provides and coordinates a range of health and social services for disabled individuals. ICS currently has more than 600 members and employs more than 900 home health-care professionals. Funding will enable ICS to enroll an additional 200 members; develop and maintain an additional 350 home health-care positions; and establish operations in Brooklyn.ICS, a nonprofit organization serving the boroughs of Manhattan and the Bronx, was established in 2000 with Mott support to generate employment and create higher-wage career opportunities for home health-care aides.
