About this grant
This grant will enable Programs for People to help low-income adults recovering from mental illness find employment through a client-centered service. According to the President’s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities, the average unemployment rate for people with psychiatric disabilities is more than 85 percent.Funding will support objectives that include providing skill development training for 70 adults; supplying work experience training for 17 adults; assisting 45 adults from day treatment to transition to employment placement services; helping 18 adults to enroll in specialized training or college courses to further their career goals; enabling 44 adults to enter private employment; and recruiting 35 additional local companies to offer employment opportunities to program clients.Programs for People was established in 1973 to help low-income adults recover from mental illness.
