About this grant

This grant will enable Allavida to coordinate a multifaceted program to encourage community philanthropy; promote good grantmaking practices; and strengthen community development activities in Southeast Europe. The program objective is to build the capacity of organizations working to build community development in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia, Romania, and Serbia and Montenegro.Multiyear funding will support efforts to build the capacity of community organizations through access to networking opportunities, training, research, online resources, publications, and study tours and exchanges. Activities will focus on raising awareness about the potential for progressive community philanthropy in the region; enhancing the skills, effectiveness and resources of local grantmakers in the region; and encouraging training and development opportunities to strengthen community associations and non-governmental organizations throughout the regionAllavida, established in 2001, provides training and capacity building, small grants, and support to networks and emerging civil society organizations in Southeast Europe and the Newly Independent States.
