About this grant
The program goal of the Mozaik Community Development Foundation is to promote public participation in decisionmaking and community development through targeted grantmaking and support to community-based action. The grantee is a national-level, Bosnian foundation established in 2000. The foundation uses grantmaking, research, capacity building, and advocacy to create the conditions for social cohesion across Bosnia-Herzegovina. Particular emphasis is given to needs assessment and prioritization by local communities and mobilizing local human and financial resources to meet these needs. In 2006, the foundation awarded over 80 small grants totaling approximately $110,000. The foundation also supported community facilitation activities and technical assistance in connection with its grantmaking and organized the first regional conference on resource mobilization. The foundation is based in Sarajevo and works throughout Bosnia-Herzegovina and is networked with other grantmaking institutions in the Balkans and Eastern Europe.
