About this grant
The program goal is to promote public participation in decisionmaking and community development through targeted grantmaking and support to community-based action. Mozaik Community Development Foundation is a national-level, Bosnian foundation established in 2000. In 2011-2012, the foundation will use grantmaking, research, capacity building, social enterprise development, and advocacy to improve the conditions for local-level social cohesion across Bosnia-Herzegovina. Particular emphasis will be given to stimulating philanthropy at local and national levels to meet community needs. In 2009-2010, the foundation supported 255 community initiatives with small grants totaling approximately €400,000, and these initiatives leveraged over €400,000 locally. The foundation also launched two social enterprises that employ women in rural communities and scaled up the successful YouthBank model to more than 15 municipalities. The foundation is based in Sarajevo, works throughout Bosnia-Herzegovina, and is networked with other grantmaking institutions in Europe.
