About this grant
Project QUEST is a unique sectoral workforce development program in that it first defines the skills required to succeed in a number of targeted, high-demand occupations, and then recruits and trains individuals for immediate employment. Labor-market research and information obtained from employers – such as wage rates, availability of benefits and career mobility potential – help determine the sectoral employment training programs offered.Funding will enable Project QUEST to help disadvantaged residents of San Antonio, Texas, improve their educational and occupational skills, secure stable employment and move toward economic self-sufficiency. Because personal and family issues – childcare, transportation and other concerns – affect training opportunities, Project QUEST’s training program focuses not only on skills training but addresses these other issues.Project QUEST was established in 1992 to help provide good jobs for the people of San Antonio. Since then it has placed more than 2,100 participants in jobs paying family sustaining wages.
