About this grant

The concept of corporate social responsibility has recently gained recognition in the Croatian business sector, and the nonprofit and government sectors have become interested in the potential of the concept as a tool for social development. In 2004, the first national conference on corporate social responsibility – organized by the Croatian government, a German foundation and several leading Croatian businesses and nonprofit sector organizations – attracted more than 120 participants from all three sectors. Funding will enable MAP Consulting to conduct research to encourage cross-sector partnerships and knowledge transfers on corporate social responsibility theory and practice. Specific goals include promoting greater use of the Global Reporting Initiative standards in Croatia; stimulating cross-sector debate on good governance, transparency and accountability; and expanding access to educational tools for businesses and nonprofits on corporate social responsibility. MAP Consulting, established in 2003, provides consultation, assessment, research, analysis and training services related to development, gender, civil society and other social issues.
