About this grant

The program goal is to stimulate community-based civic engagement and resource mobilization in Bosnia-Herzegovina. During 2014-2015, the Tuzla Community Foundation will play a convening and capacity building role in the community, support community initiatives and projects through grants, strengthen philanthropy locally through fund development and outreach to the community, and develop its board and staff capacities for leadership and management. During the previous grant period, the grantee increased the number of direct beneficiaries from 3,000 in 2011 to more than 6,500 in 2012, supported more than 220 community groups with small grants and 65 families in need through is solidarity fund, implemented community research using the Vital Signs methodology, engaged more than 60 young people in decisionmaking on grant programs through its YouthBank project, and managed over $65,000 in targeted support for community school and community center development. Based in Tuzla, the grantee is networked with other community foundations and community-based organizations working with youth in Europe.
