About this grant
The program goal is to stimulate community-based civic engagement and resource mobilization in Bosnia-Herzegovina. During 2016-2017, the Tuzla Community Foundation will play a convening and capacity building role in the community, support community initiatives and projects through grants, strengthen philanthropy locally through fund development and outreach to the community, and develop its board and staff capacities for leadership and management. During the previous grant period, the grantee expanded the number of local communities in which it is active from 10 to 22 in Tuzla and surrounding towns. Through a variety of programs, the grantee awarded 417 grants totaling approximately $788,000. In addition, the grantee directly engaged 160 community members, including many young people, in the work of the community foundation through its board, grantmaking committees, expert advisory bodies, and working groups. Established in 2005 in Tuzla, the grantee is networked with other community foundations and community-based organizations working with youth in Europe.
