About this grant
In Serbia and Montenegro, the transition from years of communism to free market capitalism and pluralistic democracy has resulted in tremendous social, economic and political changes. Such changes present an opportunity for women to have a greater share in the decisionmaking processes that are shaping the country. The mission of the Reconstruction Women’s Fund is to promote women’s participation in decisionmaking processes.Multiyear funding will enable the fund to provide grants and technical assistance to local women’s non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and civic initiatives in Serbia and Montenegro; expand fundraising activities; network with other funders; promote its activities in the media; and develop an evaluation tool to determine the impact of particular program strategies on women’s issues. The fund was created in 2004 to build upon the work of the women’s program at the Fund for an Open Society in Belgrade, Serbia and Montenegro.
