About this grant
This grant increase supports the overall programmatic and organizational development of the Youth Initiative for Human Rights following a period of rapid growth in the number of staff and range of activities. Additional funds will be used to cover costs associated with organizing staff retreats and planning sessions during the summer and fall of 2006, conducting training for staff, and upgrading financial management systems. The overall program goal is to engage the public, and young people in particular, in constructive dialogue and action with respect to dealing with the past in order to strengthen accountability and the rule of law. To this end, the Youth Initiative for Human Rights raises public awareness about the facts and circumstances surrounding the conflicts during the 1990s in the Western Balkans; advocates for justice for the victims of war crimes and human rights abuses; and promotes accountability on the part of government and governmental agencies.
