About this grant
This grant will support the Center for the Advancement of Health, an organization created to help the United States realize the full value of its investment in health research. For the past 10 years, the center has advocated the use of science in policy and practice, and demonstrated how and why many important research findings are underreported and underused in personal, professional and policy decisions.Funding will enable the center to provide leadership and coordination to ensure that health research is adequately reported and used accordingly. Specifically, the center will promote the translation of health research into policy and practice; and encourage collaboration among researchers, policymakers and practitioners. Goals include more effectively analyzing and synthesizing health research results; better communicating synthesized results to audiences in ways that will help them take action to improve outcomes; and improving the translation process to be more sensitive to public health needs and more accountable for health outcomes. The Center for the Advancement of Health disseminates the latest evidence-based research on health, health care, prevention and chronic disease management, emphasizing how social, behavioral and economic factors affect illness and well-being.
