About this grant
This grant will enable Achieve Employment Services to develop and implement an alternative staffing service in Flint. Alternative staffing services are nonprofit providers of temporary and temporary-to-permanent employment for disadvantaged job seekers, and are proving to be an effective transitional employment method for people facing barriers to employment.Funding will support activities that include placing clients in a variety of temporary and temporary-to-permanent jobs; encouraging communication skills, teamwork and professionalism; providing individual job coaching; offering one-on-one counseling for clients to promote workplace success; and partnering with community-based organizations and local government agencies to provide referrals and support to job seekers.Flint Area Specialized Employment Services was created in 2001 to provide workforce training and job placement assistance to low-skilled workers in Genesee County.
