About this grant
In 2002, a redevelopment strategy was created to provide a long-range vision for downtown Flint and adjacent neighborhoods. Funding will enable the Foundation for the Uptown Reinvestment Corporation, in partnership with the Uptown Reinvestment Corporation (URC), to support redevelopment efforts. The project will entail the conversion of three buildings on Saginaw Street into 75,000 square feet of office, restaurant and residential space, adding approximately 200 jobs to the downtown area. The Foundation for the URC was established in 2004 to receive and administer funds for charitable purposes and for the public welfare of Genesee County. URC was created in 2000 to serve as the catalyst for the revitalization of downtown Flint.
