About this grant
This grant will support a review – conducted by the University of Michigan’s Center for the Study of Higher and Postsecondary Education – of Bridges to the Future, a countywide afterschool program. The program, administered by the United Way of Genesee County in partnership with the Genesee Intermediate School District and the Flint Community Schools, serves approximately 16,400 students at 116 sites. Funding will enable the center to examine and refine ideas for program organization financing and sustainability; participate in discussions and interviews with other state and local agencies and officials regarding policy decisions and options for Bridges; and make recommendations for the most effective organization and management of the program. The center, established in 1957, is the premier U.S. preparation program for higher education leadership.
