About this grant
The Virginia Organizing Project provides coordination, training, research and technical assistance to organizations across the state. The project – established to address the concerns of poor people and distressed communities – works at both the local and regional levels, especially in the areas of housing and wages.Multiyear funding will support activities that include refining the project’s training systems; developing a new training manual; recruiting and training at least 100 people per year and placing at least 20 in ongoing leadership roles; updating the database; upgrading the organization’s Web site; exploring ways to expand the funding base; conducting a series of meeting and forums on health care reform; and expanding the organization’s presence into at least 10 more general assembly districts in 2005, and an additional 10 in 2006.The project, established in 1995, is a statewide organization of local chapters and affiliates working to reduce poverty and its effects.
