About this grant
The program goal is to strengthen the capacity of local civic groups to promote positive change in their communities. The Perm Civic Chamber will establish a united support service for regional civic organizations that will focus on capturing and sharing innovative civic activism strategies while also promoting essential organizational management practices within client organizations. Drawing on a coalition of groups with diverse expertise in these areas, the united support service will also engage with experts in previously underexplored fields like event management and new media. In 2010-2011, the grantee and its partners conducted four civic expeditions in the Perm region and additional educational workshops for the regional rights ombudsmen. They continued to document and disseminate examples of effective civic activism in print and online in order to support the ongoing growth of independent civic activity. Founded in 1996, the Perm Civic Chamber’s mission is to provide informational, organizational, legal, and technical support to civic initiatives in the Perm region and throughout Russia.
