About this grant

The program goal is to improve the effectiveness of independent rights organizations located in Russia’s regions. The Fulcrum Foundation will use a two-pronged approach to support the development and strengthening of human rights promotion and protection activities. First, it will provide targeted grants and technical assistance to key regional organizations working on classic civil and political rights issues and seeking to heighten the acceptance of these concepts in regional public life. At the same time, it will support grassroots groups engaged in a broader agenda of citizen self-organizing through regular grant competitions. In the most recent grant period, the grantee made over 60 grants to regional rights organizations across Russia. Registered in 1999, the Fulcrum Foundation supports civic initiatives aimed at encouraging the establishment of a rule-of-law state, protection of constitutional rights and freedoms, and legal education of the general public.
