About this grant
This grant will provide support to the Flint Community Schools during the transition to a new superintendent of schools. The superintendent resigned in April 2005 and an interim is in place until a new superintendent is selected. During this time, the Flint Board of Education faces several important decisions, including budget challenges, reducing teaching staff and resolving the district’s use of school buses.Funding will ease the transition and assist the school board in making several critical decisions. Specifically, this grant will cover the interim superintendent’s salary during the transition and support costs related to a search to fill the vacated position. The Flint Community Schools is Genesee County’s largest school district, serving approximately 20,000 children and adults.
