About this grant
The federal Workforce Investment Act, passed by Congress in 1998, requires the establishment of business-led Workforce Investment Boards in local communities across the country. The purpose of the Workforce Investment Boards, of which there are approximately 600 nationally, is to oversee the expenditure of Workforce Investment Act funds and to design and implement local workforce development systems. This renewal grant to the National Center on Education and the Economy will provide partial support to design and implement a comprehensive technical assistance and capacity improvement program for Workforce Investment Boards across the country.
