About this grant
Court Street Village Nonprofit Housing Corporation was established to build, maintain and preserve housing for low-income families in four of Flint’s downtown neighborhoods. Since its inception almost 20 years ago, it has developed 306 affordable housing units in three separate projects; helped 20 homeowners rehabilitate their homes; and was selected to serve on the Genesee County Land Reutilization Council. In addition, the corporation manages the Resident Empowerment Program, which was developed to organize and train neighborhood residents to conduct needs analyses and community revitalization plans.Multiyear funding will support efforts to improve vacancy rates in senior apartment buildings; enhance the value and perceived quality of life in target neighborhoods; pursue funds for owner-occupied rehabilitation efforts; help neighborhoods develop programs and activities for children; and encourage volunteers to support beautification efforts of the I-475/Court Street area.
