About this grant

In recent years, federal and state governments have recognized the importance of work supports and have created and/or expanded a series of programs to provide benefits to low-wage working families. These programs include the federal and state Earned Income Tax Credits, Medicaid, State Children’s Health Insurance Program and the relatively new federal Child Tax Credit.Multiyear funding will enable the Sagamore Institute for Policy Research to identify effective employer-based models for raising awareness of and participation in work support programs for low-wage workers; highlight emerging models for improving Internet and/or other off-site tools to facilitate applications and ongoing eligibility for government-financed work support programs; and develop and disseminate best practices to employers, benefit programs administrators, human service agencies, nonprofits and other important stakeholders. The mission of the Sagamore Institute for Policy Research is to provide independent and innovative research on changing public policy.
