About this grant
In order to secure the continuous presence of distinguished scholars from Central/Eastern Europe (CEE) in the university’s programs, Columbia University of the City of New York established an endowed visiting-professor program called the Deák Visiting Professorship.Funding will contribute to the professorship program with the goal of increasing recognition of the importance of CEE studies within the American academic community and strengthening trans-Atlantic academic cooperation. The program supports an annual visiting scholar from Hungary or another CEE country to teach courses in history, social sciences and humanities.Columbia University was founded in 1754. The East Central European Center at the university focuses on academic research related to the history and politics of the countries in CEE.
