About this grant

As the temporary employment services sector increasingly serves as a point of entry to employment for disadvantaged jobseekers, several nonprofit workforce development organizations have established alternative staffing programs. These nonprofit services provide temporary employment opportunities while simultaneously addressing the clients’ barriers to employment. This grant will enable Fifth Avenue Committee in Brooklyn, New York to continue its alternative staffing program. Activities will include introducing new marketing and sales materials; expanding internet-based marketing efforts; obtaining government staffing contracts; hiring a retention specialist to increase opportunities for the temporary employees to retain their jobs; and increasing earned revenue by an additional 30 percent, business customers to more than 125 and the number of employees placed to more than 320.
