About this grant

At the low end of the labor market, and particularly for people with multiple barriers to employment, temporary job placements may be the only option for nonsubsidized employment. To gain increased understanding of temporary job placements through alternative staffing programs, a two-year Field Documentation Study is being conducted by a team of researchers at four alternative staffing sites – in Austin, Texas; Boise, Idaho; Brooklyn, New York; and Minneapolis, Minnesota. Funding will enable Easter Seals-Goodwill Northern Rocky Mountains, based in Boise, to participate in the demonstration project. The goal of the project is to expand and increase the opportunities for low-income and disadvantaged people to obtain well-paying jobs through temporary and "temp-to-perm" placements. The project will investigate and analyze critical elements of each alternative staffing program. Each site will employ strategies to increase temporary and/or permanent job placements, permanent job retention and earnings for participants.Easter Seals-Goodwill Northern Rocky Mountains works to create solutions that change the lives of adults and children with disabilities or who are disadvantaged.
